We break down the word “History” into two parts: “Hi” and “Story,”; this serves as the conceptual starting point for this year’s Nuit Blanche curatorial theme, “Hi Story.” This linguistic deconstruction is not merely a formal reconstruction but symbolizes a shift in curatorial thinking from one-way interpretation to mutual dialogue, from authoritative discourse to close participation, and from history itself to establishing a contemporary interactive relationship with history. On the 10th anniversary of Taipei Nuit Blanche, we choose this way of redefining historical vocabulary to reflect on the trajectory of civic participation and curatorial practice of the past decade. We also aim to open a freer, more intimate path for historical narration, echoing the cultural richness and historical depth represented by the Yuanshan site. We hope to say “Hi” to the past, initiating a cross-temporal narrative experience that invites the audience to engage with art, to reinterpret and revitalize the stories embedded in this land.
